Who we are
AI Studio Academy Pty Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), trading as MathsEazy, is a company registered in South Africa. We are the data controller (or "responsible party" under POPIA) of personal information collected through the MathsEazy service.
Personal information we collect
- Contact details: WhatsApp phone number, email address (if provided), name.
- Account details: grade, subscription status, message count.
- Content you submit: messages, photos of maths questions, and other inputs to the tutor.
- Usage and telemetry: message timestamps, feature usage, AI token counts, error logs.
- Device & technical data: IP address, device identifiers, basic browser data.
- Support communications: any messages you send us for help.
Why we use it (purposes & legal basis)
- To provide the Service (contract): account creation, delivering tutoring responses, managing subscriptions.
- Security & fraud prevention (legitimate interests): rate limiting, abuse detection, log review.
- Product improvement (legitimate interests): aggregated usage analysis to improve quality and accuracy.
- Customer support (contract / legitimate interests): responding to your queries.
- Legal compliance (legal obligation): tax, accounting, and responding to lawful requests.
Who we share it with
- Service providers / subprocessors we rely on to run the Service, including hosting, database, and AI providers.
- Merchant of Record: Paddle.com handles payment processing, subscription management, tax compliance, and invoicing on our behalf.
- Messaging: Twilio (WhatsApp delivery) processes message metadata to deliver our service.
- Professional advisers such as legal and accounting, where reasonably necessary.
- Authorities where required by law or to protect our rights.
International transfers
Some of our service providers process data outside South Africa. Where this happens we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the recipient's POPIA-compatible data protection terms or standard contractual clauses) to protect your information.
Retention
We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes set out above, to comply with our legal obligations, and to resolve disputes. When no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law (including POPIA in South Africa and, where relevant, GDPR), you have the right to access, rectify, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal information; to data portability; and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) or your local supervisory authority.

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, access controls, and audit logging, to protect your personal information.
